WHAT HAPPENED?
Mason Greenwood, the former Manchester United star, scored his 10th Ligue 1 goal of the 2024/25 season, helping Marseille secure a 2-0 victory over Saint Etienne on Sunday. His goal in the 65th minute allowed the 23-year-old winger to match his best-ever league tally, which he previously achieved with the Red Devils in the 2019/20 season, scoring 10 goals in 31 Premier League appearances.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
In addition to his goal, Greenwood set a unique Ligue 1 record by becoming the first player since Brazilian international Sonny Anderson to score 10 goals in just 14 league appearances. Anderson accomplished this feat in 1994 while playing for AS Monaco.
