Bruce Willis’ wife, Emma Heming Willis, has shared a touching story about how their nine-year-old daughter, Evelyn, is trying to support her dad amid his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis. The 68-year-old actor’s dementia was confirmed in February, nearly a year after his family announced his initial diagnosis of aphasia.
Emma, 44, has been keeping fans updated on Bruce’s health alongside the rest of the family, but this recent update may be the most heartfelt.
In a social media post to her 833,000 Instagram followers, Emma expressed her intention to share Evelyn’s gesture without crying, but she admitted she became a “puddle” when her daughter relayed the information.
She explained, “So I have to tell you this story, and I’m going to try and do it without crying. Because when Evelyn told me this story, I was an absolute puddle.”
Emma Heming Willis expressed her intention to share a heartfelt message about her daughter Evelyn’s kindness with her 833,000 Instagram followers, hoping to do so without getting emotional.
Emma revealed that during her free time at school, Evelyn researched “interesting facts about dementia” and learned that people with the condition “may become dangerously thirsty.”
She continued, “Now, that’s not funny, but it’s sort of amusing. She truly is her father’s child, as these two enjoy discovering strange information.” Emma added, “So I told her, ‘Evelyn, we’ll always make sure Daddy has a bottle of water on hand.’ Thank you for informing me. But the most caring and considerate thing you can do is be informed and educate yourself about your father’s illness.”
