REDCON1, a sports nutrition company situated in Boca Raton, Florida, has stopped supporting Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fitness competitions due to his recent comments against vaccinations in a CNN interview.
During a recent interview with the network’s Bianna Golodryga, the former California governor emphasized the importance of prudence in light of the continuing coronavirus outbreak.
Schwarzenegger stated, “There is a virus here.” It kills people, and the only way to prevent it is to be vaccinated, wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash your hands all the time, rather than just thinking, “Well, my freedom is being kind of disturbed here.” No, screw your freedom!
Speaking Out:REDCON1, a Boca Raton, Florida-based sports nutrition firm, declared Tuesday it ‘has suspended all support’ for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fitness events following the bodybuilding icon’s strong statements on vaccination in a recent discussion with CNN. The actor, 74, was photographed in LA last month.
The True Lies actor went on to say, “You have the freedom to wear no mask, but you know what? You are a schmuck for not wearing a mask. Because you are responsible for the safety of your fellow Americans.
REDCON1 creator Aaron Singerman responded on Instagram, stating that anyone who shouts “screw your freedoms” is un-American, and that the company is patriotic and pro-freedom. We believe in freedom of choice. We do not want Arnold censored or cancelled. We just cannot support his opinion with our money.
Singerman stated that he has visited the Ohio-based Arnold Classic fitness expo for 15 years and has ‘been a sponsor of the tournament’ for at least 10.
‘We’ve spent hundreds of thousands of dollars as the event’s main sponsor… but we can’t in good conscience continue to promote and be affiliated with someone who holds such diametrically opposing values,’ he said.
The ex-California governor last week took a pointed approach toward caution amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic while speaking with CNN
In response, REDCON1 founder Aaron Singerman said that his company was no longer supporting Schwarzenegger’s annual fitness expo
Singerman spoke out on social media about the business choice to withdraw from the expo.
Singerman stated that, despite the economic choice to withdraw from the expo, Schwarzenegger has been a longtime role model for him and first piqued his interest in bodybuilding and fitness.
‘We chose you and your rights above an organization run by Arnold, who is not in line with American values,’ the business stated in a news release.
Schwarzenegger’s views against anti-masking and anti-vaxxers gained attention, prompting him to write a piece for The Atlantic defending his position.
Schwarzenegger became concerned about owed his success to the United States after arriving there as an immigrant from Austria, and he stated that it is the responsibility of American residents to put aside’selfish interests’ during the pandemic.
Arnold had earlier stated that people who refused to wear masks in the sake of ‘freedom’ were’schmucks’, and while he maintains his position, he wrote that the terminology may have been ‘a touch much.’
The actor took to Instagram and asked his followers to check out his latest article: “I wrote about the sacrifices of American heroes throughout history, emphasizing the importance of freedom and duty.”
The 74-year-old immigrant from Austria attributed his achievement to the United States and emphasized the need of setting aside’selfish interests’ during the pandemic.
‘I’ll admit, calling people schmucks and shouting “Screw your freedom” was a tad extreme, even though I stand by the sentiment,’ he wrote in his most recent post. ‘But there is nothing I am more passionate about than keeping America great, and it is the only topic that can make me lose my cool.’
Arnold was candid about how much he owes the country he considers home in his article, which reads in part like a love letter to the United States.
‘I often tell people not to call me self-made; I prefer to call myself American-made,’ he explained.
While admitting that he is not a “academic,” the Terminator star provided a “civics lesson” to individuals who believe it is their right not to wear masks.
‘Many people have told me that the Constitution grants them rights but not obligations. They feel no obligation to protect their fellow citizens,’ he said.
‘I can’t help but wonder how much better off we’d be if Americans took a moment to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in this nation,’ he mused.
Instead of tweeting, we may reflect on what we owe to the patriots who came before us and those who will come after us. I am not an academic, but I can assure you that selfishness and neglect of duty have not made our country great.
The Constitution aims to ‘advance the general good and guarantee the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity.’ It’s right in our founding documents. Arnold wrote, “We need to think beyond our selfish interests.”
To connect with readers, the former politician used quotes from John Adams, George Washington, John F. Kennedy, and the 2004 cartoon feature film Team America.
‘When people call this fascism, I can’t take it,’ he added of individuals who refuse to wear masks. ‘Only a few decades ago, this country stood up to genuine fascism. (Yes, I understand that my father was on the wrong side of the fight.)
‘And we didn’t triumph solely because of our love of freedom. We won because Americans came together and fulfilled their responsibilities.
‘Many people have told me that the Constitution grants them rights but not obligations. They feel no obligation to protect their fellow citizens,’ he said. ‘I can’t help but wonder how much better off we’d be if Americans took a break from politics and reflected on how fortunate we are to live in this nation.
‘Americans underwent food and petrol rationing to win that war,’ he said in part, later adding: ‘Americans lived through four years of horrific sacrifice, and we’re going to throw tantrums about putting a mask over our mouth and nose?’
During a YouTube appearance earlier this week, the star compared wearing masks and immunizations to obeying traffic lights on the road to keep others safe.
‘There is a sickness here that kills people, and the only way we can prevent it is to be vaccinated, wear masks, practice social distancing, and wash your hands all the time, rather than just thinking about how my freedom is being disrupted here.’ ‘No, screw your freedom,’ he exclaimed during a heated exchange.
‘We installed a traffic light at the crossroads to prevent accidental deaths. You can’t say, ‘No one is going to tell me that I’m going to stop here at this traffic light, I’m going to go right through it,’ because then you kill someone else and it’s your fault,’ Schwarzenegger explained.
‘Americans underwent food and petrol rationing to win that war,’ he said in part, later adding: ‘Americans lived through four years of horrific sacrifice, and we’re going to throw tantrums about putting a mask over our mouth and nose?’
The Hollywood great has been a big supporter of Covid-19 safety precautions, and he uploaded an Instagram post earlier this year showing himself receiving the vaccination.
In this week’s video, the Austrian-born actor warned of the development of fascism in America, equating the pro-Trump crowd that stormed the Capitol to Adolf Hitler’s Brownshirt thugs on German streets in the 1930s.
He warned of the perils of ‘lying to the nation’ and said that it must be stopped at any cost.
When it comes to the epidemic, Schwarzenegger said it’s necessary to follow the experts’ recommendations, but there’s “misinformation out there,” which means people are ignoring basic things like hand washing and sanitizing surfaces.
He emphasized the need of respecting and listening to experts like Dr. Anthony Fauci, who have spent their lives studying this topic.
‘Yes, you are free to wear no mask. But you know what, you’re a schmuck for not wearing a mask since you’re supposed to protect the other members around you,’ Arnie stated.
‘I don’t want to villainize anyone here,’ he said, ‘but I just wanted to say everyone, let’s work together and stop fighting because there is a virus, and it’s better to be vaccinated [and] wear a mask.’
The Last Action Hero performer is often spotted wearing a facemask around Los Angeles, demonstrating what he teaches.
In addition, he received a coronavirus vaccine.
The governor even posted a video of himself receiving his first dosage of the two-dose vaccine at a drive-through clinic in the spring.
