Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg and wife Kate Capshaw take a $250 million yacht to the Italian Riviera

Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw have traveled to the Italian Riviera aboard his $250 million yacht, Seven Seas.

The 76-year-old film director beams as he arrives in the picturesque former fishing village of Portofino, holding hands with retired American actress Capshaw, 69.

The port town, which has an off-season population of only 355, has become the epitome of Mediterranean splendor, a haven for the wealthy and famous.

Spielberg’s 357ft superyacht, which was built in the Netherlands by luxury firm Oceanco last year, can carry 14 guests in its seven cabins as well as 30 staff across another 15 cabins.

Spielberg named the yacht Seven Seas after selling his decade-old 282-foot yacht of the same name in 2021.

The award-winning filmmaker, dressed in a sleek grey jacket, denim pants, and cream fedora, appeared calm as he and his wife entertained guests on the massive superyacht.

The boat, designed by Sinon boat Architecture & Design, has a huge pool in the back and a spa pool on the deck. According to some stories, there is also a helicopter landing pad in the front.

According to Robb Report, the yacht is powered by twin MTU 20V 4000 M73L diesel engines capable of producing 4,813 HP each and propelling it to 20 knots.

Spielberg, who was seen viewing Oppenheimer with Beatles icon Paul McCartney in late July, and his wife then strolled through the port town, where superyachts bob in the marina.

Kris Jenner, 67, and her longtime lover Corey Gamble, 42, were also photographed in Portofino this summer, as were on-and-off-again ex-partners Elon Musk and Grimes.

The arrival of Spielberg in Italy coincides with the Venice Film Festival, which takes place on the opposite side of the country’s coastline. Last night, all eyes were on Bradley Cooper’s film Maestro, which Hollywood luminaries Spielberg and Martin Scorsese co-produced.

Cooper, who plays the late composer Leonard Bernstein in the film, was not present at the Venice Lido film festival. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA are currently on strike, therefore much of Hollywood is avoiding the red carpet. Maestro is created by Netflix, a firm that has been struck.

Last month, a festival spokesman announced that he would not attend in solidarity with SAG-AFTRA’s strike.

The 2023 Venice Film Festival is expected to be significantly more low-key than previous years, with most of Hollywood choosing to stay away for fear of violating the strikes.

The film director, dressed in a nice grey jacket, denim pants, and a cream fedora, appeared relaxed as he and his wife went into the lovely port town.

The glittering Italian festival began on Wednesday and often features some of Hollywood’s greatest actors on the red carpet to promote their work.

However, only a few independent projects have permission this year to be promoted by their stars, with Venice confirming on Monday that Adam Driver and Jessica Chastain will still attend at the festival.

Prior to its Venice premiere, Cooper’s film Maestro sparked controversy.

Following the publication of a teaser and press stills, a number of prominent members of the Jewish community slammed Cooper’s portrayal, accusing him of using ‘Jewface’ in it.

The makeup artist who designed Cooper’s nose apologized on Friday for inflicting any ‘pain’.

Double Oscar winner Kazu Hiro, who previously transformed Gary Oldman into Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour, said of the storm, ‘I wasn’t anticipating that. I’m sorry I wounded some people’s feelings.

He continued, “My goal, and Bradley’s goal, was to portray Lenny as authentically as possible.” Lenny had a pretty iconic look that everyone remembers – there are so many images of him because he’s also quite photogenic – he was a wonderful person who influenced many people.

So we wanted to respect the interior appearance as well. So that’s why we ran several different tests and made a lot of decisions, which resulted in the movie.’

However, Bernstein’s family has defended Cooper’s use of a prosthetic nose in the composer biography.’It happens to be true that he had a wonderful big nose,’ the statement from Bernstein’s children explained.
