GEOVANY QUENDA could follow Ruben Amorim to Manchester United, according to sources.
The Sporting Lisbon teenager was one of the standouts in the Portuguese side’s 4-1 Champions League victory over Manchester City in Amorim’s final home game as manager.
While former Coventry ace Viktor Gyokeres was lauded for his hat-trick in that game, 17-year-old Quenda was the star who set Gyokeres’ tally in motion with a brilliant pass cutting between the lines.
Manchester United had already been watching the left-footed winger, who played right wing-back against City, before signing Amorim.
According to A Bola, the Red Devils plan to make a transfer offer for him next summer.
According to the source, their initial bid will be around £33 million.
However, the Guinea-Bissau-born Portugal youth international has a full release clause of £84 million after renewing his contract until 2027 in September – his previous contract had a clause of £38 million.
Amorim committed not to sign any players from his former club in January, but he did not rule out making any transfers in the summer.
He stated, “In the January market, I will not [sign players from Sporting].”
“In the heat, I don’t know. The first point is to wait until the summer.
