Ruben Amorim arrives at Carrington with Man United executives Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth welcome the new manager as Ruud van Nistelrooy’s departure is confirmed

Ruben Amorim arrived at Manchester United’s Carrington training facility on Monday afternoon and was greeted by key club executives. 

The Portuguese was received by CEO Omar Berrada at the club’s training facilities after arriving with a police escort from Manchester Airport at around 2 p.m.

Amorim grinned warmly as he grabbed Berrada’s hands and embraced the executive, while also being photographed deep in conversation with sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox.

Manchester United have also stated that Ruud van Nistelrooy, Erik ten Hag’s former deputy and interim manager since then, has left the club, along with coaches Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar, and Pieter Morel.

The manager appeared to be in a good mood as he clasped hands with CEO Berrada, who was also relatively new.

Amorim boarded a private plane on Monday morning, accompanied by five of his subordinates, who will join him in his new venture. 

Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Paulo Barreira, Emanuel Ferro, and Jorge Vital all accompanied Amorim on the 11 a.m. flight from Beja. 

Thousands of admirers monitored the plane’s live movement as it landed at Manchester Airport around 2 p.m. on Monday. 

He had a fairytale farewell at Sporting on Sunday evening, less than 12 hours before departing to take up his new Red Devils post, as the Portuguese team rallied from two goals behind to defeat Braga 4–2.

The 39-year-old head coach now turns his attention to Manchester United. One of his first responsibilities was to hold crunch meetings with Van Nistelrooy. 

Amorim confirmed after Sunday’s game against Braga that he will speak with the Manchester United veteran about his future, thanking the Dutchman on a ‘wonderful job’ with the Red Devils following Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

Van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager at Old Trafford at the end of October and oversaw an unbeaten run of four games, winning three and losing one.
