According to Sky Sports writer Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United intends to sign Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.
In August, Manchester United opted to offer captain Bruno Fernandes a new deal with a lucrative remuneration. However, the Portuguese player has only played mediocre this season and has not scored a goal in 11 appearances in all competitions.
Furthermore, Fernandes is thirty years old. It is hardly surprising that Manchester United is associated with excellent offensive midfielders such as Florian Wirtz. According to Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils intend to sign the German international, who has also been linked with Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.
The famed Sky Sports pundit went on to say that Bayer Leverkusen wants to sell Wirtz abroad, cutting out the idea of him joining Bayern. In contrast, the Bundesliga champions believe Wirtz’s transfer to Real Madrid next summer is unlikely.

Wirtz scored 18 goals and provided 20 assists in all competitions for Xabi Alonso’s side last season, helping Die Werks win the domestic double. This season, the 21-year-old playmaker, who is worth roughly £99.9 million, has personally contributed to five goals in six Bundesliga outings, but Leverkusen is presently sixth in the league.
