Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen scored and assisted in Denmark’s 1-1 Nations League draw with Switzerland on Tuesday evening.
Remo Freuler put the hosts ahead just before the half-hour mark, but it didn’t last long as Denmark equalized a minute later.
Eriksen reacted the quickest, taking a quick free kick to release Gustav Isaksen, who made no mistake with goalie Gregor Kobel at his disposal.
Zeki Amdouni then converted from the penalty spot to send Switzerland down the tunnel on the front foot. Eriksen was in the right place at the right time in the 69th minute of play, smashing the ball into the back of the net to guarantee the rewards were shared by the two teams.
Eriksen had 59 ball touches throughout his 90-minute stint on the pitch, including added time.
He connected with his teammates on 35 of his 40 attempts, for an individual pass accuracy of 88%. Eriksen made three critical passes.
The United number 14 attempted to find his teammates with six crosses and five long balls. He effectively connected with three crosses and as many long balls.
Eriksen produced one major opportunity: Isaksen’s strike.
The 32-year-old midfield master took four shots, two of which were on target and two of which were off target. He also executed the one dribble he attempted.
Eriksen competed in three ground duels and won all three. He made two tackles.
It’s nice to see Eriksen experiencing a revival at both the club and international levels. He shared the pitch alongside Rasmus Hojlund, a United teammate and fellow countryman.
However, unlike Eriksen, Hojlund did not have the best of games and was replaced after 57 minutes.
The striker had 17 touches on the ball and completed 10 passes. He only managed one shot, forcing Kobel to take swift action.
The United striker also won the one ground duel he entered.
