Manchester United is preparing a “powerful” offer to recruit Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, according to Fichajes.
United spent a substantial portion of the summer pursuing Manuel Ugarte, while PSG resisted selling the Uruguayan midfielder for a low price.
Ugarte was not regarded a significant component of Luis Enrique’s ambitions in the French capital, but the Ligue 1 club attempted to retrieve the entire €60 million they paid Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2023.
They also wasted a lot of money on Kolo Muani that summer, and it is now being speculated that United may come to their rescue once more by accepting another mediocre signing.
Kolo Muani, who scored 23 goals and assisted 17 times for Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022/23, has struggled to meet expectations at PSG, contributing only 18 goals in all competitions last season following his big-money move.
According to Fichajes, United has expressed a “strong interest” in signing him despite his unclear situation at the French club.
The Red Devils have apparently been “keeping a close eye on” the versatile 25-year-old forward and are “willing to make an offer of around 70 million euros” to recruit him.
United have struggled upfront this season, and only Southampton have scored fewer goals than them after seven games in the new Premier League.
It is believed that the Manchester club requires attacking reinforcements and sees Kolo Muani as a “attractive option” to improve their frontline, despite his disappointing performances in Paris.
PSG is thought to be eager to return some of their investment and would not mind parting ways with Kolo Muani.
United has already paid high transfer fees for Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee in the past two summer transfer windows. Both strikers are highly regarded and have showed glimpses of their greatness. However, at this point in their careers, they are far from prolific.
As a result, it remains to be seen whether United will spend heavily on another forward who is not considered a guaranteed goal scorer.
