OUT: Manchester City Braces to Bid Farewell to a Key Player, Impacting Pep Guardiola

Important update reveals a Manchester City player will leave the club at the end of the season despite signing a new contract.

Pep Guardiola’s contract at the Etihad expires at the end of the current season, while star man Kevin De Bruyne is also out of contract. However, there are reports that another player could be on the move despite having committed his future to the club this summer.

According to BILD, Ortega is losing patience with being Ederson’s back-up. The newspaper says Ortega will ask to leave if Pep Guardiola does not promote him to the number one goalkeeper position. Ortega believes he has a chance to break into the German national team and compete with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen for a place.

In the coming months, Ortega wants to find out whether he will be the first-choice goalkeeper next season. Despite having extended his contract, Ortega is said to have a verbal agreement with the board that he can leave if he receives a suitable offer.

Goalkeeper Stefan Ortega has signed a one-year contract extension after making a crucial one-on-one save from Spurs captain Heung-Min Son after Ederson was forced off in the penultimate game of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

There had been speculation that the goalkeeper could start the season as No 1, especially with Ederson heavily linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League. However, Ederson has stayed and retained his place in goal, with Ortega having made just two appearances so far.

Ortega joined Manchester City on a free transfer after leaving Arminia Bielefeld following their relegation from the Bundesliga. Although Pep Guardiola admitted he had never heard of him before, he praised Ortega as “one of the best goalkeepers I have ever seen in my life.”
