Liverpool is keen on obtaining the best Championship player before the next season.
Many Championship-winning players have made big moves to the Premier League and fared just as well there as they did in England’s top division over the years.
Liverpool is all too aware with this since they bought Andy Robertson from Hull City in 2017 after 42 second division Tiger outings.
Possibly the best example from the recent past is James Madison. Spurs’ midfielder spent two seasons playing for Norwich City; his second season was particularly outstanding. Maddison scored fourteen goals and eight assists for the Canaries, which attracted a big transfer to Leicester City in 2018.
Apart from Maddison, Jack Grealish of Aston Villa and Mason Mount on loan at Derby County have also spent time in lesser divisions. Their careers have been much advanced by this.
The Championship today boasts a lot of amazing talent, some of which might follow in Maddison’s footsteps and go on to do great things in the Premier League.
However, one man in particular is ruling the second tier this season, and many admirers believe he is currently the best Championship player.
Liverpool has sights on the Championship winner.
The player under inquiry is Leeds United winger Crycensio Summerville, who is currently having an amazing season. Having 39 appearances under his belt, the Netherlands U21 international has 8 assists and 17 goals to assist Leeds fight for automatic promotion back into the Premier League.
Still, Leeds’ promotion or not determines whether the winger is meant to play football at a higher level the next season.
A few Premier League teams are apparently showing interest in Summerville, according to Football Transfers; Liverpool especially seems to be drawn to the winger. The Elland Road squad is paying a steep price for the 21-year-old, hence the Reds might make a £45 million offer for him.
Should Liverpool choose Ruben Amoirm of Sporting, the preferred successor for the empty Anfield head coach post, he might wish to include Summerville into the squad.

Summerville would obviously fit Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system rather easily. Summerville might be a winger on paper; Amorim like his wide guys to act as number 10s with the ball. The 22-year-old is not too different from Marcus Edwards, Sporting’s right-winger, who excels in one-on-one situations as a brilliant ball carrier and dribbler.
Edwards has averaged 4.73 progressive carries per ninety minutes this season, ranking in the top 10%; Summerville has averaged 5.08 progressive carries per ninety minutes, ranking in the top 6%.
At a quite similar rate per ninety minutes, they also carry the ball into the penalty area. Edwards averages 2.26, in the top 6%; Summerville averages 2.53, in the top 4%. Though Summerville has more goals and assists this season in Liga Portugal than Edwards, who only has four goals and four assists, both players are outstanding dribbers.
Summerville would easily fit into Amroim’s scheme if both wind up relocating to Liverpool following next season. The Reds could have a ready-made Amorim-style winger that the Portuguese manager can transform into their next EFL success narrative, so it would be an intriguing sign for them.
