Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, 25, has spoken out about his contract status at Anfield, amid talk of Real Madrid interest. Alexander-Arnold spoke candidly about his future with his local club in a recent interview following the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Alexander-Arnold’s current deal with Liverpool expires at the end of the season, prompting questions about his future. Although talks on a new accord have begun, no agreement has yet been reached. This has raised concerns that the England international could quit Anfield, particularly as Real Madrid is reportedly interested in signing him on a free transfer.
The 25-year-old defender has attracted interest from Real Madrid.
After Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Bournemouth, when asked about his future at Liverpool, Alexander-Arnold insisted: “I’ve been at the club for 20 years now. I’ve signed four or five contract extensions and none of them have been announced. This time will be no different.” He stressed: “I want to be a Liverpool player this season, at least.”
Alexander-Arnold also shared about his personal ambitions at Liverpool: “I have always said that I want to be captain of the club. That is my goal and ambition, but whether that happens or not is out of my control.”
When asked about the most important factor in the decision-making process about the future, Alexander-Arnold did not hesitate to answer: ” The most important thing is always the title. I want to win the title. I am a player who is very motivated by titles, winning and becoming an elite player.”
Arnold has declared his desire to become Liverpool captain in the future.
Alexander-Arnold also expressed optimism about Liverpool’s prospects in the current season: “This season we are playing very well, although it is still early. We need a lot of stability and have beaten many teams throughout this season. It will be difficult, but we are looking to win as many titles as possible.”
In addition to discussing his future, Alexander-Arnold discussed his working relationship with new head coach Arne Slot. He stated that they had serious discussions regarding his personal ambitions.: “We talked about goals and I told him that I wanted to be the defender that no player wants to play against in Europe. We agreed that he would be tough on me.”
He and new coach Arne Slot have an excellent rapport.
Alexander-Arnold recently marked a big career milestone by scoring his 100th goal for Liverpool (19 goals and 81 assists) in 316 games. When asked about the achievement, he modestly replied, “They are good numbers. I believe I have the potential to do more if I am honest.”
Despite reports of interest from Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold is focused on developing himself and helping Liverpool succeed. His dedication to the club and desire to win more trophies indicate that the England international still has a long-term future at Anfield.
