Arsenal fans have blamed one player after allowing Man City to score a late equaliser in the Super Sunday match.
On Sunday night, the Gunners looked set to take all three points away at Man City, leading 2-1 into first-half stoppage time. However, in the eighth minute of stoppage time, home defender John Stones scored from close range to level the score at 2-2.
Jesus helped Man City get a corner kick from which Stones scored the equalizer 2-2
Reacting on social media, Arsenal fans were unhappy with substitute Gabriel Jesus coming on late in the second half. One said: “I’m so annoyed with Gabriel Jesus right now. At half-time all you need to do is kick the ball out of the goal, not put it back over the corner flag and give them an unnecessary corner.”
Another tweeted: “I blame one person, Gabriel Jesus. Please tell me WHY IS HE BACK, fix it!” A third fumed: “I want Gabriel Jesus sold in January. He single-handedly made us pay with his stupidity.”
Another wrote: “It’s heartbreaking for Arsenal as they defended so well. Gabriel Jesus should have cleared the ball for that corner.” A fifth commented: “Jesus thought he was playing for Man City and trying to win a corner.” Another fumed: “Why is Gabriel Jesus covering the ball in his own corner… He helped Man City score!”
In addition to the mistake that led to Arsenal’s loss, Jesus also attracted attention with a heated argument with Man City striker Erling Haaland after the match. Accordingly, it is unclear what the two talked about, but the Norwegian striker seemed quite angry. The camera lens recorded Haaland shouting at Jesus: “What the hell are you talking about? Get out of my sight.”
This is one of the controversial situations of the big match between Man City and Arsenal, a match with a lot of drama and tension both on and off the field.
