Trent Alexander-Arnold is starring for England under interim manager Lee Carsley, and the national team’s social media team has highlighted the Liverpool player. Alexander-Arnold, 25, played the entire 90 minutes of both Nations League games during September’s international break.
In addition, he was selected player of the match against Ireland and Finland. In both games, he impressed with his passing range, bringing new vitality to the national squad.
After coming close against Ireland, Alexander-Arnold helped Harry Kane set up the opening goal against Finland. He then played a one-two with Noni Madueke, allowing the Chelsea winger to pull back a cross for Kane’s second goal.
Alexander-Arnold’s signature moments were enough to earn him player-of-the-match honours for the second consecutive game. After tweeting a selfie of himself posing with the trophy while seated in the England changing room, the national team’s social media account published a brief video of him receiving the trophy at Wembley Stadium.
The eight-second clip began with someone setting the trophy on one of their padded dressing room seats before zooming in to reveal Alexander-Arnold placing his hand on it. As he glances up at the camera, he smiles widely.
The audio from the Brenda From Bristol meme played in the background, with her saying: “You’re joking! Not another one! Oh, for God’s sake, I can’t take it.”
Alexander-Arnold’s 24th start and 33rd senior cap came against Finland. Kane’s assist was his first on the international stage since setting up Bukayo Saka for the fifth in a 7-0 win over North Macedonia in a European Championship qualifier last June, but he started that game in midfield.
