Almost two years after leaving Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he still adores the team.
In 2022, under dubious circumstances, Ronaldo announced the end of his second spell at United, moving from the Theatre of Dreams to Saudi Arabia.
The legendary bagsman, 39, began his career at Manchester United after joining the team as a teenager in 2003, having previously made his mark at Sporting Lisbon.
And over his two stints with the Red Devils, he made approximately 346 appearances, strengthening his bond with the Manchester team.
Now that Al-Nassr is a member of the Saudi Professional League, Ronaldo has admitted that he still has feelings for his old team.
In an interview with Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United teammate, Ronaldo asserted, “There are times in life when we cannot control things, but they are done and already done.
Many United supporters are still emotionally damaged from the way things ended when Ronaldo departed the team in 2022, so reactions to his proclamation of love have been divided.
After an intense conversation with Piers Morgan, the Portuguese striker, who scored his 900th goal of his career last week, had his contract with Manchester United terminated.
Ronaldo attacked his former company, criticising the training facilities’ standards and the direction the team was taking under Erik ten Hag’s leadership and the Glazers’ ownership.
Some fans hadn’t forgotten the sour end to his time at United and reacted to his rose-tinted recollection online.
One wrote: “The audacity to sаy this even after he drove his fans to spread negativity against Man United.”
