Mohamed Salah, a Liverpool star, is reportedly ‘desperate’ to sign a new deal that will extend his stay at Anfield beyond the conclusion of the season.
During his seven-year spell with Liverpool, the Egyptian has established himself as one of the club’s all-time greats.
However, his contract expires this summer, and he admitted following their 3-0 triumph over arch rivals Manchester United that this could be his final season with the club.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Salah is ‘now thinking only of prolonging’ his time at the club, and is ‘desperate to remain’ at Anfield.
Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, Al-Ittihad in particular is looking to sign Salah in the summer of 2023.

Sadio Mane (left) is reportedly a key factor as to why Salah wants to remain at Anfield
Mane departed Liverpool for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2022, but only stayed for a year.
The Senegalese international has 19 goals in 54 appearances with Al-Nassr, where he plays alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.
Though the transfer has worked out financially for Mane and resulted in greater performances following his dismal spell at Bayern Munich, it has kept Mane out of the spotlight in comparison to his days of winning championships at Liverpool.
Another reason Salah is apparently interested on staying at Liverpool is his family, who are already settled there.
Salah and his wife Magi have two daughters: Makka (born 2014) and Kayan (born 2020).
The Egyptian captain assisted two goals and scored one in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Salah has quickly climbed up the list as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players
After the game he said: ‘I was coming to the game and I said, ‘look, it could be the last time (at Old Trafford)’.
‘Nobody from the club has talked to me yet about contracts. It’s not up to me, it’s up to the club but we will see.
‘As you know, it’s my last year in the club. I just want to enjoy it. I don’t want to think about it (the contract). I feel I’m free to play football and we’ll see what’s going to happen next year.’
Salah’s contract isn’t the only hot topic at Liverpool, as both Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold are in the final year of their contracts.
