BRING HIM HERE: Liverpool Determined to Utilise ‘Golden Touch’ to Secure £45 Million ‘Beast,’ dubbed Gyokeres 2.0

Prior to the upcoming season, Liverpool is looking to sign the best player in the Championship.

Many Championship players have made substantial moves to the Premier League and have played equally well there as they have in England’s top division over the years.

Liverpool is all too aware with this, having signed Andy Robertson from Hull City in 2017 after 42 games in the second tier with the Tigers.

James Madison is likely the best example from recent history. Spurs’ midfielder formerly played for Norwich City in the Championship for two seasons, with his second season particularly impressive. Maddison scored 14 goals and assisted eight times for Norwich City, earning him a big move to Leicester City in 2018.

Aside from Maddison, other players who have played in lesser leagues include Jack Grealish at Aston Villa and Mason Mount on loan at Derby County. This has helped to significantly advance their careers.

There is a lot of intriguing talent in the Championship right now, some of whom could go on to achieve great things in the Premier League and follow Maddison’s example.

But one player in particular has dominated the second division this season, and many fans believe he is the finest player in the Championship right now.

Liverpool is striving for the championship title.

The man in question is Crycensio Summerville, a Leeds United winger who is having a great season so far. With 39 games played, the Netherlands U21 international has 17 goals and 8 assists to help Leeds compete for automatic promotion back to the Premier League.

Regardless of whether Leeds are promoted, it is possible that the winger will play at a higher level the following season.

Summerville is apparently getting interest from a few Premier League clubs this summer, with Football Transfers stating that Liverpool is especially keen in the winger. The Elland Road club is demanding a high price for the 21-year-old, and the Reds could launch a £45 million bid for him.

Ruben Amoirm of Sporting, who is now the favourite to win the vacant Anfield head coach job, may want to bring Summerville into the team if Liverpool chooses him as their next manager.

Victor Gyokeres, who Amorim signed from Championship Coventry last summer, may opt to stay in the second tier once more.

Summerville and Gyokeres are two quite different football players. Summerville is a quick, straight winger who Ben Mattinson on X describes as a “one-vs-one monster.” Summerville is Amorim’s next EFL endeavour.

However, Mattinson describes Sporting striker Gyokeres as a “powerhouse.” A traditional center-forward, the Swede excels at hold-up play and is clinical in front of the net.

However, they are identical in their reputation as the best player in the championship. Summerville’s goal involvement in the second tier this season stands at 25 in 39 games. Gyokeres scored 21 goals and dished out ten assists for Coventry last season, but the club fell short of promotion to the Premier League.

If Amorim joins Liverpool, we could see him attempt to bring Summerville on as his latest EFL project signing. The Dutchman would cost nearly double what Sporting paid for Gyokeres, with Leões spending £20 million on the centre striker.

Summerville could easily fit into Amorim’s preferred 3-4-3 system. Summerville may be a winger on paper, but Amorim like his wide guys to play like number 10s with the ball. The 22-year-old is similar to Sporting’s right-winger, Marcus Edwards, who is a fantastic ball carrier and powerful dribbler in one-on-one situations.

According to Fbref, this season, Edwards has averaged 4.73 progressive carries per 90 minutes, putting him in the top 10%, while Summerville has averaged 5.08 progressive carries per 90 minutes, putting him in the top 6%.

They also move the ball into the penalty area at a very consistent rate per 90 minutes. Summerville averages 2.53, placing him in the top 4%, while Edwards averages 2.26, putting him in the top 6%. Both players are great dribblers, but Summerville has more goals and assists in Liga Portugal this season than Edwards, who has just four.

It is easy to see how Summerville could fit into Amroim’s system if both end up moving to Liverpool next season. It would certainly be an exciting signing for the Reds, and they could have a ready-made Amorim-style winger who the Portuguese manager can turn into his next EFL success story.
