According to Graeme Bailey’s HITC report, Nottingham Forest is interested in Caoimhin Kelleher. The Tricky Trees’ attempt to sign the Liverpool custodian was unsuccessful, despite providing Matt Turner as part of the deal. However, the Reds have declined the approach from their Premier League rivals.

Caoimhin Kelleher’s Liverpool frustrations
Caoimhin Kelleher has been a consistent performer for Liverpool since joining from boyhood club Ringmahon Rangers in July 2015. The Irishman has grown from strength to strength in the nearly decade he has spent with the Merseyside club, despite being a backup player in the first team for the majority of that time.

While the 25-year-old has delivered heroic performances for Liverpool in cup tournaments, he has only received consistent game time elsewhere when Alisson Becker is absent. Kelleher has made nearly 50 appearances for the Reds, maintaining 15 clean sheets and surrendering 59 goals.

However, after scarcely appearing for Liverpool outside of cup tournaments, Kelleher has been eager to start on a new adventure during the summer transfer window. Recent reports have linked the Republic of Ireland international to high-profile teams such as Celtic. However, a move across the Premier League could be in the cards.

Is a move across the Premier League in the cards?
According to recent sources, Caoimhin Kelleher wants to continue in the Premier League after leaving Liverpool. Nottingham Forest may have offered him an exit path from Liverpool after approaching the Merseyside club with a part-exchange offer.

The Tricky Trees were prepared to offer Matt Turner in the deal to sign Kelleher from Liverpool. However, the Reds have rejected Nottingham Forest’s offer for a part-exchange move, with Arne Slot willing to keep the 25-year-old Irishman at Anfield beyond the summer transfer season.

While the Republic of Ireland international wants to leave Liverpool to become the undisputed first-choice custodian abroad, Liverpool may not accept offers for him this late in the summer transfer window, given their difficulties to find a successor.
