After Endrick, the Brazilian wonderkid, scored his first goal for Los Blancos, Real Madrid players mocked him in jest.
When the 18-year-old teenager made his debut against Real Valladolid at Santiago Bernabeu, he was warmly welcomed and went on to score in a 3-0 triumph while coming off the bench. But after scoring a goal in his first game, many of his teammates flooded his Instagram, calling him “Bobby” in jest.
The light-hearted support came after Endrick shocked the football world in an interview by declaring that Sir Bobby Charlton, the legendary Manchester United player and winner of the England World Cup, is one of his inspirations.
While there was no denying Sir Bobby’s skill, the young player shocked the crowd by selecting a player who had retired from football in 1973—33 years before Endrick was even born.
The Brazil international had previously stated that he enjoys playing him in his all-time squad on EA Sports FC 24 and had brought up his nаme following the friendly match against England.
That evening at Wembley, Endrick became the youngest me𝚗’s player to score an international goal and helped his team win 1-0.
“Here, Bobby Charlton is an idol,” the child exclaimed. “It is a historic day to score a goal on the day Ronaldo made his debut, playing in the stadium where Bobby played.”
Just ten minutes after coming in for Kylian Mbappe, he scored at the Santiago Bernabeu, capping off another fantastic night for him.
The player has already won his first title in the white shirt, the UEFA Suρer Cup trophy, in just one month since joining the team.
‘Vamos Bobby!!!’ along with a white love emoji was Jude Bellingham, his teammate, who was the first Madrid star to choose to show him funny support on Instagram.
‘Bobby Jnr’ was the new moniker that teammates and fans quickly took on for the athlete.
In another interview with Spanish YouTuber Delantero09, the player was attacked by other football fans for selecting his current colleague Jude Bellingham over Neymar. This decision resulted in laughing emojis from Thiago Silva, the former centre defender for Chelsea, and Barcelona’s Raphinha.
Endrick’s £62m transfer to Real Madrid was among the most anticipated of this summer transfer window.
Los Blancos had to wait for the attacker’s 18th birthday as FIFA rules prevent players under the age of 18 from being transferred abroad – though this doesn’t apply to players transferring between countries within the EU.
The youngster is currently preparing to face his next opponent, Las Palmas, in an away LaLiga game on Thursday.
