Only Arsenal and Liverpool have maintained their pristine Premier League record, with both winning 2-0 in their first games. Luis Diaz opened the goal for Anfield in the 13th minute, while Mohamed Salah secured the win in the second half. Arne Slot’s club is one of four teams to have won all six points in the first two rounds, including Manchester City, Brighton, and Arsenal.

Brentford is well-known for their aggressive counter-attacking style, but Liverpool excels in this area, as evidenced by both of their goals.
Diaz’s goal came from a corner kick by the visitors, with Diogo Jota collecting up the ball and delivering it to the Colombian striker, who sprinted down the pitch with his left foot and struck a high shot into the near corner, beating goalie Mark Flekken.
Salah’s goal came after Liverpool stole the ball from midfield and Diaz prodded it down the right side of the penalty area for the Egyptian striker to curl his left foot into the far corner. This was the 32-year-old’s second straight Premier League goal this season.

Salah continued to score goals, but Diaz was the match’s standout player, scoring and assisting. Diaz has scored the opening goal at Anfield for the third season in a row. He also created four scoring opportunities for his teammates and made three effective tackles, earning him the highest Whoscored score of the game (9).
Slot’s first game at Anfield went perfectly, as he was greeted heartily by the crowd. When his name was announced, the audience chanted, clapped, and sang the popular cheerleading song You’ll Never Walk Alone.
When Slot was named to replace Jurgen Klopp, many fans were sceptical of his abilities. However, after the first two matches, he has gained the faith of the fans. Support for the Dutch coach will grow if Liverpool continues to win in the third round against Manchester United at Old Trafford on September 1.
