After being selected for the PFA Team of the Year, Gabriel Magalhaes celebrates over FaceTime with his partner Gabrielle Figueirido

After being selected for the PFA Premier League Team of the Year last night, Gabriel Magalhaes, an Arsenal defender, celebrated with his spouse via FaceTime.

Figueiredo fist pumped as she congratulated him

With five players, including Gabriel and his centre back partner William Saliba, chosen in the starting lineup from the previous season, Mikel Arteta’s team dominated the competition.

He held up the gong and was seen beaming

Peer voting throughout the previous 12 months determined that Arsenal received more nominations than Manchester City, despite the team suffering heartbreakingly losing the Premier League title competition for the second consecutive year.

Five Arsenal players - Declan Rice, David Raya, Gabriel, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard - were selected in the XI, as chosen by the peers for their displays over the past 12 months

Gabriel, who joined the team from Lille in 2020, was present to get his shining medal in person at the Opera House in Manchester. Gabriel received praise for his outstanding performances as the focal point of the Gunners’ defence.

His partner Gabrielle Figueiredo was the first person he celebrated with.

Sharing a screen recording of their touching chat, Gabriel was seen beaming as he held up his gong while his wife grinned and visibly fist pumped in the air.

The video was sweetly captioned, “POV: We dream it together.”

Before they hung up, Gabriel kissed his companion and Figueiredo waved a half-heart.

Gabriel and his partner began dating in September 2020 and share a daughter, Maya

In September 2020, the couple started dating, and three years later, they were married in a sеcrеt ceremony. In April 2022, Maya, their first child, was born.

Figueiredo is a model and social media influencer who was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1997. She has a clothing and makeup line and is also an expert in beauty.

Gabriel has nearly 150 matches in the Premier League to his credit, and his PFA selection is the latest achievement in an already stellar career.

David Raya was named in goal in the XI after his debut season between the sticks, having usurped Aaron Ramsdale to become Arteta’s undisputed No 1.

Joining Saliba and Magalhaes, Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice were selected in midfield. Odegaard was also named in last year’s best XI while Rice earned his spot after catching the eye following his £105million move from West Ham.

Arsenal began the new campaign with a comfortable 2-0 victory against Wolves and are next in top-flight action at Aston Villa on 24 August.
