Wolves have approached Aaron Ramsdale, the goalie for Arsenal. After moving from Sheffield United to the Gunners in 2021 for a reported £24 million, Ramsdale, 26, has made 89 appearances for the team.
After David Raya joined the squad at the beginning of the 2023–24 season from Brentford, the Englishman made an impression throughout his first two seasons at the Emirates. As a result, Ramsdale’s future has been the subject of much debate.
Joan Garcia of Espanyol is a potential substitute for Ramsdale, although the Gunners turned down a loan offer from Ajax earlier this month.
Newcastle, meantime, had made an inquiry about Ramsdale earlier in the year, but they were turned down by Arsenal because of their asking price, which is now being considered in order to give the 26-year-old the opportunity to start his career.
Wolves only have about £20m to spend this window, therefore they’ve offered a loan with a buyout option.
Ramsdale hasn’t played much for Arsenal lately, but he has consistently been a part of Gareth Southgate’s England sides and was Jordan Pickford’s backup at Euro 2024.
The 26-year-old, who joined Bournemouth from Sheffield United’s junior system, also had successful loan stints in his early career with Worksop Town, Chesterfield, and AFC Wimbledon.
In their opening Premier League encounter of the season, Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 on Saturday, and Ramsdale was on the bench. Prior to kickoff, the keeper shook hands with Gary O’Neil.
Raya was ineligible because of the conditions of his initial loan agreement from the Bees, hence Ramsdale’s final game for the Gunners was in a match against Brentford in March.
