Liverpool are allegedly looking to recruit left-back Julio Soler from Argentine club Lanus this summer.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Liverpool has reportedly approached Liga Profesional club Lanus in an attempt to sign a left-back after seeing Soler at the Olympics. Soler, 19, is being pursued by several big teams during the summer transfer window following his great performances for Javier Mascherano’s Argentina team in Paris.
PANORAMA
The 19-year-old progressed through the Argentine club’s junior system before breaking into the main team last season. He has already made 36 appearances for the club and is anticipated to be part of Lanus’ plans for the current season. Argentine writer German Garcia Grova has stated that the Argentine club will accept a $15 million (£12 million) bid for Soler.
DO YOU KNOW?
Liverpool sees Soler as a long-term replacement for Andy Robertson. Although the 30-year-old Scottish left-back remains the club’s favourite option, they are beginning to consider the future and intend to deploy Soler as a backup option.
