David de Gea, the legend of Manchester United, has officially moved

The 33-year-old athlete and Fiorentina have agreed on a one-year deal with the possibility of an additional 12-month extension. Since leaving Manchester United in the summer of last year due to his refusal to have his contract renewed, David de Gea has been without a club.

His most recent official appearance was over 400 days ago in the Red Devils’ defeat against Manchester City in the 2023 FA Cup final. Last season, Pietro Terracciano was Fiorentina’s first-choice goalkeeper after appearing in 53 matches across all competitions, keeping 13 clean sheets. The 34-year-old player’s contract is set to expire in 2025.

Pietro Terracciano will now face off against De Gea in the upcoming campaign for the team’s top spot. De Gea made 545 appearances for Manchester United during his 12-year stay there after leaving Atletico Madrid in 2011.

He became the goalie with the most appearances while at MU and broke Peter Schmeichal’s record for most clean sheets. During his tenure at Manchester, the Spanish player has won five major championships: the FA Cup in 2016, the Europa League in 2017, and the Premier League title in 2013.

This custodian has also won other individual awards, such as the Premier League Golden Glove in the 2022–2023 season and the 2017–18 season. In addition, from 2013 to 2016, he was named MU’s Player of the Year for three straight seasons.

Since his most recent outing in 2020, he has made 45 appearances for the Spanish national team. The previous season, Fiorentina made it to the European Championship final for the second year in a row, but they were defeated by Olympiacs. The team placed eighth in Serie A. On August 17, they will play Parma to begin their new campaign.
