Following his departure from Manchester United, David de Gea secured a free transfer to Fiorentina.
When De Gea played in Manchester United’s 2023 FA Cup final loss to Manchester City, it was more than 400 days ago.
After departing United in the summer of last year due to an inability to come to an agreement over a contract extension, he was a free agent.
De Gea will face Pietro Terracciano at Fiorentina. Terracciano made 53 appearances as the team’s first-choice custodian the previous season.
De Gea played with Manchester United for 12 years, making 545 appearances, winning 5 major championships, and setting a record for the most clean sheets. In addition, he received three Manchester United Player of the Year awards.
Last season, Fiorentina placed seventh in Serie A and advanced to the Europa Conference League final twice.
August 17th marks the start of the new Serie A season, with Fiorentina taking on Parma.
