Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, has agreed to a new contract.
With a weekly wage of £350,000, the midfielder is expected to surpass all other players at Old Trafford in terms of compensation.
With a 2028 extension option, the new agreement will be in effect until June 2027.
The announcement, which was first reported by Fabrizio Romano, puts an end to rumours regarding the future of the Portugal international, who was previously paid £220,000 per week.
After United’s record-low eighth-place Prem finish last season prevented them from qualifying for European football, he had been the target of leave rumours.
Before the Euros, Fernandes had made a significant exit signal by saying he would weigh all of his alternatives. In April, he stated to DAZN Portugal, “You have to want a player to stay as much as you want him to be here. “So, if you want me to be very honest, if I have to think about not continuing in the Premier League.”
However, transfer analyst Romano claims that Fernandes has now reiterated his commitment to United. He claims that the deal will be done before the transfer window closes and that Fernandes’ wage will be at the “top MUFC level”.
Many people think that Erik ten Hag’s intentions revolve around the 29-year-old, and that the team should be constructed around him.Fernandes not only created the most opportunities in the Premier League last season (114), but he also scored 54 goals in 159 games since 2020.
In that period, he has also contributed an incredible 41 assists, with United sometimes lacking an effective No. 9.In January 2020, Fernandes made his way to the Red Devils for a transfer that started at £47 million and ended up costing £68 million.
He and Alejandro Garnacho were the best players for United on Saturday when they lost to Manchester City on penalties in the Community Shield.
