Riccardo Calafiori Starts Training Immediately Upon Arrival in the US with the Entire Arsenal Squad!!!
Riccardo Calafiori signed a five-year contract and became a member of the Philadelphia team today.
The transaction involving the 22-year-old Bologna defender—who can also play left back—is purportedly worth £42 million.
After weeks of rumours tying the Italian to the Gunners, Mikel Arteta’s team has made its first summer acquisition.
Calafiori arrived from Bologna and immediately established contact with his Philadelphia teammates.
Calafiori was an essential part of Bologna’s team that made it to the Champions League for the first time in sixty years last season.
Following that, he performed admirably for Italy in their Euro 2024 campaign, starting all three of their group stage matches.
After being fоrmally intrоduced tо his teammates at a squad meeting at Arsenal’s team hоtel, Calafiоri gоt up tо say hellо fоr a few secоnds.
“I’m really happy to be here,” he murmured. “I had to wait for a while.”
Arsenal completed a £42 million agreement to acquire Riccardo Calafiori, who has already made his formal debut.
“Hopefully, this year will bring about something truly remarkable.” Just this. I am appreciative.
The flexible addition gave Arteta a sincere embrace shortly after the briefing and was captured on tape asking, “Is this real?”
Later, he was shown on camera enquiring as to the “realness” of his tardy move to the club.
“It’s real,” Arteta answered with a smile. It’s accurate. Finally, it is real.
Calafiori was praised by Arteta as a “great signing” when he finished 30 games for Bologna in the Italian top division with two goals and five assists.
“Riccardo has a strong character and personality, and we will push for major trophies with his unique skills,” Arteta went on.
“In his performances for Bologna and Italy, he has shown remarkable growth; his advancement and development over the past year have been truly remarkable.”
“We can’t wait to work with Riccardo, integrate him into the team, and give him continuous support going forward.”
More additions are expected before the transfer window closes on August 30 as Arteta looks to improve his club in anticipation of a rematch for the Premier League title.
The agreement follows the activation of goalie David Raya’s option-to-buy clause earlier this month in his loan contract.
