The star of Germany and Arsenal, Kai Havertz, wed his longtime girlfriend, Sophia Weber, in an exquisite ceremony on Saturday.
After his country’s elimination from the European Championship at the hands of eventual victors Spain, Havertz has been enjoying a well-earned sulk.
With the Gunners, the 25-year-old continued his late-season form and had a successful tournament. However, Luis de la Fuente’s team crushed German dreams of winning a European Championship at home.
Fortunately for Havertz, he had his wedding to look forward to before the new campaign officially began.
He was beaming as he and Weber, a social media influencer and model with over 390,000 Instagram followers, posed for a stunning set of pictures.
Both of them were raised in the same neighborhood. They were pals at first, but in 2018 they started dating.
The couple posted some stunning photos from the wedding to Instagram with the message, “18.07.24 – forever.” Following his £65 million transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal, Havertz announced his engagement last year. This led to their marriage.
It proved to be an eventful 12 months for the forward in north London, as he battled through heavy criticism, amid a slow start to life at his new club, to eventually become recognised as one of Mikel Arteta’s key players.
Havertz netted 14 goals in 51 matches in all competitions and provided seven assists. In an interview last year, he opened up on the impact the sport can have on those around him.
‘Football is our life.’ He said. ‘If you lose a game, of course you don’t have an easy life.
‘I think everyone at home, especially my girlfriend, has had some tough weeks. I think she is happy now again and so am I.’
Havertz is expected to report back for training in the coming weeks ahead of Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States.
Havertz’s former team, Bayer Leverkusen, will play against Arteta’s team in addition to Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool.
In a private friendly on Saturday, the Gunners easily defeated Leyton Orient 2-0 to start their preseason on the right note.
