Liverpool is reportedly interested in a €55 million trade for a 21-year-old Bundesliga sensation dubbed ‘Lovren 2.0’

Liverpool are interested in signing Piero Hincapie, a highly regarded Bayer Leverkusen defender, during the upcoming January transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp, the Reds’ manager, has reportedly made acquiring a new central defender a top priority, with his sights set on the 21-year-old Hincapie.

The Ecuadorian international was a regular starter for Leverkusen last season, but he has yet to appear this year. His outstanding performance in the 2022–23 season, however, drew the interest of prominent European clubs.

Virgil van Dijk, 32, cannot continue his present level of performance permanently. Given that both Joel Matip and Joe Gomez have been plagued by injuries in recent years, the Reds may be turning to Hincapie to instantly boost their defense.

The 21-year-old has the unique ability to play both left and right center back. He will improve as he plays more matches. Obviously, Klopp can bring out the best in the Ecuadorian defender.

The Reds are apparently willing to pay €55 million to get him. For that sum, the young South American would become Liverpool’s sixth most expensive signing in history, behind Van Dijk, Darwin Nunez, and Alisson. This demonstrates how well-regarded Hincapie is by the Premier League’s top clubs.

Hincapie might take over permanently.

Liverpool’s defense has been under extra stress since Ibrahima Konate’s injury. Due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence, Joe Gomez is immediately eliminated from consideration for the starting center back position.

With his experience in the Bundesliga, a prominent European league, Hincapie, at the age of 21, may make an early impact while developing into a crucial player. His agility and technical ability make him an intriguing addition to Klopp’s lineup.

It would be a tremendous boost for Liverpool if they could sign Hincapie during the forthcoming transfer season. Klopp must assess his situation at Anfield and seek defensive depth from the owners in order to compete with rivals such as Arsenal and Manchester City.
