The me𝚗’s basketball programmes are getting ready for exhibition play in advance of the prestigious event at the Olympic Games in Paris, 2024. The United States of America, having completed its training camp, is one of the participating nations. LeBron James, 39, was the best player on the court despite the fact that the team had some of the greatest players in the world.
James was chosen by his peers as the finest member of the national team in a straw poll that The Athletic held among the Olympic camp attendees. With five votes, he secured the majority of the vote. Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday, and Anthony Edwards each garnered two votes. However, Anthony Davis, Bam Adebayo, Kawhi Leonard, and Joel Embiid each only garnered one vote.
Amen Thompson, a forward with the Houston Rockets who was selected for the USA Select Team, expressed his disbelief at James’s level of performance during their scrimmages.
“After the first day, I told my brother that he’s the best player on the court, dude, he’s 40 years old.” – Thompson, Amen
Although James was considered the best player on the national team, Cooper Flagg, the top-ranked prоspect in the 2025 NBA Draft, was overwhelmingly chosen as the best player on the USA Select Team.
Since Marcus Smart and Doug McDermott in 2013, Flagg is the only collegiate player to have been invited to a Team USA training camp. in just 17 years old, Flagg was the youngest player in the camp, but he was already quite the talent, leaving an impression on the coaches, players, and media with his amazing performances.
The nation’s top player, the Duke commit, is well-known, and his performance in the Team USA training camp serves as more proof of just how good a player he really is.
Devin Booker, a standout player for the Phoenix Suns, was astonished by the effort and determination that Flagg displayed on each possession.
“You can see how badly he wants it; he wants it.” – Booker Devin
When playing beside Flagg, Jalen Duren, a big man for the Detroit Pistons, who was also a member of the Select Team, didn’t notice a college athlete.
“He shown no feаr. Every day he came and worked hard. You understand what I meаn, you would assume he’s already here? – Jalen Duren
Flagg’s amazing motor is what really sets him apart, even with all the awards he racked up in high school, including Gatorade Player of the Year and McDonald’s All-American honours during his final year.
He always plays at the highest level possible and creates plays even when it doesn’t seem possible. Even the players on the national team were in awe of a stretch of plays he had during the Team USA scrimmages.
