Liverpool are reportedly moving rapidly to recruit Turkey and Galatasaray winger Baris Yilmaz after his great performance at Euro 2024.
The 24-year-old winger was a standout for the Turkish team in Germany this summer, participating in every game of the European Championship. Despite being a wide player by trade, Yilmaz was mostly used as a centre-forward for his national team.
Although he did not score this summer, he was a constant menace to rival defences, which appears to have piqued the Reds’ interest. According to Turkish media outlet Milliyet, Liverpool began talks to sign Yilmaz shortly after his team was knocked from the European Championship by Virgil van Dijk’s Netherlands.
Liverpool is expected to face competition from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for the winger, but a bid of around £25 million will be sufficient to secure the deal. Meanwhile, The Athletic thinks the Reds are negotiating with another Turkish club for one of their players.
Trabzonspor reportedly contacted Liverpool about the availability of defender Nat Phillips. Last season, the center-back was on loan at Celtic and Cardiff City.
The 27-year-old clearly wants to play more first-team football, but opportunities are limited on Merseyside. Trabzonspor are believed to have made a £4 million bid for Phillips, which was quickly rejected.
The Reds are expected to seek twice that amount for the center-back if they let him go permanently this summer.
