FAB PHIL: As film of England’s recovery day emerges, stunned fans say ‘Foden’s ball handling is another level

England’s players made a splash on their rest day, but Phil Foden stole the show with his incredible ball abilities.

Gareth Southgate’s squad was still on cloud nine after defeating Switzerland on penalties on Saturday.

The Three Lions will face the Netherlands in the Euro 2024 semi-finals on Wednesday, following another comeback victory.

Breel Embolo appeared to have won it for Switzerland when he broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining.

However, Bukayo Saka’s magnificent effort squared the game, sending it to extra time, but neither team was able to break through, forcing a shootout.

Jordan Pickford’s bottle research saved Manuel Akanji’s penalty kick before Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham, Saka, and Ivan Toney converted.

That left Trent Alexander-Arnold to come up to win it, and the Liverpool star made no mistakes in securing a 5-3 shootout victory, with Luke Shaw receiving praise for his reaction to the key kick.

Before the spotlight shifts to the Dutch, England’s heroes rested and recovered at their base on Sunday.

Saka, who celebrated the shootout by waving his hands in the air, remained cheerful as he participated in the pool practice.

But Foden couldn’t resist doing some ball practice while swimming, demonstrating that he is equally adept with his head as he is with his feet.

The Manchester City ace brilliantly headed a ball into a poolside window and even threw in one or two shoulders, appearing to be having a great time.

Along with a love heart emoji, one fan replied to the clip of him shared by the England Instagram account with: “My face when I saw Phil, this has made my day.”

While another declared: “Foden’s ball control is another level.”

As another joked that he “looked like a seal doing tricks” in there.

Bellingham was also spotted in the water, appearing to have a say in what songs were played prior to the pool session.

Alexander-Arnold, Anthony Gordon, and Conor Gallagher were all seen working out in the gym.

Several more stars emerged on the clip, and the mood in camp appeared to be on cloud nine.

A third said: “Go on the boys, bring it home!!!!!!”

As a fourth added: “These lads are gonna make history!”
