Dominik Szoboszlai has discussed the purpose behind his Steven Gerrard tattoo and why he chose Liverpool’s legendary No. 8 shirt.
Szoboszlai became Jurgen Klopp’s second summer signing on Sunday, moving from RB Leipzig to Liverpool for £60 million.
His arrival follows that of Alexis MacAllister, who joined from Brighton and has been donning the No. 10 jersey previously worn by Sadio Mane before leaving for Bayern Munich in the summer.

Dominik Szoboszlai on FanNation: “I have a tattoo from Steven Gerrard”
When Naby Keita left the team, Szoboszlai received the No. 8 jersey, which had previously been worn by Gerrard.
Many Liverpool players have long admired Gerrard for his achievements in Istanbul and loyalty to the Merseyside club.
The late England midfielder, who is tattooed with the words, “Talent is a divine blessing, but without incredible will and humility, it is worth nothing,” on his arm, is another person for whom Szoboszlai has admiration.
Finally, the 22-year-old is demonstrating his entire range of strength.
Szoboszlai explains Gerrard’s tattoo.
In an interview with LFCTV shortly after arriving at Anfield, the Hungary international explained why he chose to wear the No. 8 jersey.
It’s a large amount, he admitted, but not for any specific reason.
This number has been often used by top players.
In addition, Steven Gerrard gave me a tattoo and made a statement that I can’t recall.
Before Emile Heskey took Gerrard’s number eight spot, Oyvind Leonhardsen, Stan Collymore, Jamie Redknapp, and Paul Stewart all wore it prominently.
Szoboszlai will try to reignite Liverpool’s title hopes by repeating Gerrard’s heroics in a red shirt after a disappointing 2022-23 season.
