Arsenal are apparently pursuing 21-year-old winger Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven in a bid to dethrone Manchester City at the Premier League’s peak. This summer, the Gunners hope to recruit several new players.
Belgian winger Johan Bakayoko, who the club enquired about last week, appears to be a top target. He scored 12 goals for PSV Eindhoven last season and has now made 14 appearances for his national team.
Liverpool are also said to be interested in the teenage wideman, as new manager Arne Slot wants to add a scoring forward.
What are the football insiders saying about the player?
In an interview with GiveMeSport, football journalist Fabrizio Romano provided an update on the trade, saying: “I observed these linkages, but at the moment I have no indication anything is advanced or definite between Arsenal and Bakayoko. Several clubs have expressed interest in his services.
“He is undeniably one of the most talented wingers available on the market. However, Arsenal has yet to begin a concrete discussion with either the player or the club for Bakayoko, so it is still early.
“I believe Arsenal will take their time before choosing what to do in that position. However, for Bakayoko, it is neither imminent nor close.”
Arsenal need a new winger.
Bakayoko might be an excellent signing for the Gunners, who need more help on both wings, particularly with a speedy and explosive winger like the Belgian.
They presently have Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard, all of whom will most likely play ahead of Bakayoko in the near future, with Reiss Nelson expected to go. So it would be a luxury if Mikel Arteta had the depth to bring in someone who could contribute later in games; the 21-year-old would do just that.
