Jurgen Klopp has given his first interview since leaving Liverpool as he enjoys life away from sport; yet, he remains in touch with his former Reds teammates.
Klopp has been sighted at a number of occasions since leaving Liverpool. The German attended the Champions League final to watch his former club Borussia Dortmund play, and he returned to Anfield last month for Taylor Swift’s Eras tour.
Since then, the 57-year-old has been in Mallorca, where he owns a beautiful property, and has been sighted attending another event, this time the Mallorca Championships tennis tournament.
After receiving a resounding ovation from the crowd, Klopp was questioned by ESPN writer Agos Larocca, who asked the former Liverpool manager who he thought will win Euro 2024. Clearly unwilling to choose favourites, Klopp hedged his bets with a number of his former players playing for several of the favourites.
“In the moment, it looks a little bit like Spain could do it. Germany is good, France will be good, England will be better definitely,” Klopp said.
When questioned about Copa America, he responded similarly, revealing that he had spoken with one of his former stars. “Argentina or Brazil; Colombia or Uruguay,” Klopp said. “I texted yesterday with Alisson, I cannot make that decision.”
Asked what he had enjoyed the most about his time in Mallorca, Klopp replied: “Where can I start? I pretty much like everything about it, to be honest. But I am not long enough here yet. We tried to figure out what we like most.”
