Liverpool are contemplating a summer bid for Leeds midfielder Archie Grey, which could cost more than £40 million.
The 17-year-old has emerged as one of the Championship’s stars this season, having appeared in all but one of Leeds’ games since making his professional debut on the first day of the season.
Grey has been compared to Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold because of his quickness and ability to play in both midfield and right defence.
The youth was selected on Leeds’ bench for a Premier League game against Arsenal at the age of 16 two years ago, and he was a regular substitute under Marcelo Bielsa and Javi Gracia until making his debut this season under Daniel Farke.
Leeds would be hesitant to sell a player who joined their academy at the age of nine and is the great nephew of club legend Eddie Grey, but with other Premier League clubs such as Crystal Palace and Everton interested, they may have few options.

Grey is worth between £40 million and £50 million to Leeds, and with his current deal expiring in 2025, the club may be obliged to pay in next summer.
Gray’s father, Andy, also played for Leeds before going to Nottingham Forest and had a successful EFL career, including two international caps for Scotland.
His 14-year-old brother, Harry, is similarly highly regarded by Leeds and has established himself as a fixture in the club’s under-18 squad.
