Liverpool make thrilling first move to sign ‘superstar’ with £847 million release clause

Liverpool could take advantage of Real Madrid’s surplus of wingers in the summer transfer market as they look to strengthen their own squad in the coming months, with Rodrygo and Arda Guler both linked with moves to Anfield to help Arne Slot settle in on Merseyside and progress in his quest for titles.

Real Madrid star Rodrygo explains brutal Liverpool transfer snub - 'I didn't want to' - Mirror OnlineThe Reds enjoyed a terrific season on all fronts until March, when they crumbled by being knocked out of every event conceivable, leaving them with only a Carabao Cup victory when it appeared they could have won four. As a result, there is a need to bolster squad depth in the coming weeks, and they have been connected with loan moves for Rodrygo and Guler, both of whom may struggle to break into Madrid’s starting lineup next season.

Liverpool Have Enquired for Guler and Rodrygo

The Real duo could be available for the season

Rodrygo

According to HITC, Liverpool has contacted Real Madrid officials to check if Guler or Rodrigo will be available on loan before the start of the season.

Liverpool are trying to strengthen their front line, which got slightly erratic at times last season due to injury issues, and they have expressed an interest in the Real Madrid duo. Guler signed last summer, but with the signings of Endrick and Kylian Mbappe in the summer, there will be fierce competition for positions with talents like Vinicius Junior, Fede Valverde, and Jude Bellingham, who occasionally plays up front.

Guler, in particular, excelled for Turkey at EURO 2024, and if he struggles to obtain game time, Madrid might loan him out to keep his development moving forward – and HITC reports that Liverpool, along with Rodrygo, has approached Madrid about his availability. Liverpool had previously been connected with the Brazilian star, and with the additions of Mbappe and Endrick, he could become available this summer.

Mbappe is expected to start as the lone striker, with Vinicius nearly unstoppable on the left wing, while Endrick and Valverde might compete on the right side of the park – and Madrid also has Brahim Diaz and Lucas Vazquez who can play on the wings. Rodrygo is waiting to see how the summer goes, since there is some concern in the camp – though he will want to fight for his position first and foremost.

If Guler and Rodrygo join the Reds this summer, it would be a huge boost for Arne Slot, who already has Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Diogo Jota in his squad – and while Salah isn’t getting any younger, Liverpool could be laying the groundwork to replace him in the future.

Rodrygo, who has a release clause of roughly £847 million (€1 billion), has been dubbed a’superstar’ by expert Ben Mattinson.

Arda Guler

Guler has been one of the stars of EURO 2024, scoring an incredible goal for Turkey in their opening match against Georgia earlier this month – and with his country advancing to the round of 16 after finishing second in their group, he’ll have the opportunity to prove himself on the big stage even more.

The youngster has been a revelation since joining Real from Fenerbahce last summer, overcoming the psychological hurdle of several injuries to score six goals in only ten league games for the La Liga club. However, given the competition he faces, a move to Anfield could be the greatest tonic.
