Arsene Wenger, the legendary former manager of Arsenal, has just received one award as France gets ready to host the Olympic Games.

r/Gunners - Today Arsène Wenger was the last torch bearer in Strasbourg.

A renowned personality in the football world is Arsene Wenger.

From September 1996 until the end of the 2017–18 season, the Frenchman oversaw Arsenal. During his tenure, Wenger guided the Gunners to their first and thus far only Champions League final, three Premier League crowns, and seven FA Cups.

In 2006, Wenger played a crucial role in the club’s relocation from Highbury Stadium to the Emirates Stadium. Despite having a fraction of the transfer budget afforded by many of his opponents, he was able to continuously retain Arsenal in the Champions League although the team endured the financial ramifications of this decision.

Mikel Arteta is currently working to replicate the kind of success the team saw in the early years of Wenger’s leadership. In the meantime, Wenger has been memorialised outside of Emirates Stadium with a statue.

Wenger is now advocating for changes to the offside rule after joining the FIFA organisation. Additionally, he has been assigned a task related to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris preparations.

In a video released on the official Paris 2024 X account, the 74-year-old is seen lighting the local Olympic flame and carrying the Olympic Flame in his hometown of Strasbourg.

The Olympic Flame is presently travelling the country that is hosting the Games, as is customary, before it travels to Paris on the day of the opening ceremony in late July.

Prominent individuals will have the chance to carry it during the Flame’s journey, just like Wenger did.

Thierry Henry, another Arsenal star, will be leading the French football squad in the competition, which means he will play a significant part at the Games this summer.

William Saliba, the centre back for Arsenal, was requested by Henry to play for his team in the competition, but Arteta has already turned him down. Because FIFA and UEFA do not oversee football at the Olympics, clubs are under no obligation to release their players to participate.

Henry has been linked to the Scotland position following the Olympics, which might present a new challenge given Steve Clarke’s team’s dismal Euro 2024 campaign.
