Italy and Spain have advanced to the Round of 16 of the Euro 2024 competition thanks to the efforts of Arsenal players Jorginho and David Raya.
In the La Roja’s last group match against Albania, Raya made an uncommon appearance. In the 1-0 victory, he was able to maintain a clean sheet.
In goal, the Spaniard was outstanding. Among his four saves were a couple of quick dives to save Albania from scoring.
Raya, who is fiercely vying with Unai Simon for the top spot, looked quite impressive in the goal.
David Raya’s rating: 8/10
Not all ninety minutes of Italy’s nerve-wracking 1-1 draw with Croatia were played by Jorginho. Nevertheless, he gave a commendable performance.
In the first half, the Arsenal midfielder assisted his team in holding onto the ball well and fending off Croatia’s relentless push.
Jorginho had a 94% accuracy rate on 72 out of 77 passes. In addition, he made three possession recoveries and won five out of seven ground duels, hindering Croatia’s ability to funnel through the middle zones.
The midfielder was substituted out in the 81st minute or so. However, he was lucky to witness Mattia Zaccagni’s equaliser in the 98th minute, which negated Luka Modric’s goal and helped Italy finish second in Group B.
Joseginho’s score: 7 out of 10.
