Arsenal’s Declan Rice says Gareth Southgate has said something ‘unreal’ about him before England vs Slovenia

Declan Rice, an Arsenal midfielder, has been thinking back on some compliments he received from England boss Gareth Southgate.

Rice and his English colleagues are currently getting ready to play Slovenia with far more ease and composure.

Against Denmark last Thursday, Rice was just one of numerous England players who performed far below their normal levels, raising concerns for the team going ahead.

In Rice’s case, the display was a one-off, and the midfielder for Arsenal was obviously losing confidence because of the flaws in the team around him.

Maybe the pitch was the problem, but the Danish players weren’t using that as an excuse.

Having said that, Rice has excelled in his England career thus far, maintaining the same dominant style that he regularly provides for Mikel Arteta.

In light of this, Rice has now replied to Southgate’s kind remarks in front of Slovenia, stating he doesn’t take anything for granted.

Declan Rice claims that England’s success has depended heavily on Arsenal’s form. While praising Rice, Southgate recently asked how England would do without the midfield player from Arsenal.

And maybe it’s the boost of confidence that Rice and all of his international teammates would need going into Tuesday’s match against Slovenia, when England has to win the group.

Rice retorted via ITV Sport, saying, “It’s unbelievable to hear the remarks. It offers you a great deal of confidence as a player.
