During Scotland’s Euro 2024 match against Switzerland, distraught Arsenal player Kieran Tierney is taken off on a stretcher after sustaining yet another ιnjury from a collision with Dan Ndoye

A shattered During Scotland’s match against Swizterland, Kieran Tierney held his face and received consolation from Andy Robertson as he was stretchered off.

His absence from their crucial last group match against Hungary has been confirmed by boss Steve Clarke.  

With the score tied at one, Tierney was substituted off by Scotland’s medical team as they hurried to treat him.

Subsequently, Tierney was seen in the tunnel, back on his feet but with his shirt pulled over his face.

Tierney’s career has been marred by a long list of setbacks after he had three separate injuries while on loan at Real Sociedad last season.

‘Yeah, [he’s] definitely out,’ stated Scotland manager Steve Clarke. It appears very awful. Kieran won’t play in the next game, but we must obviously evaluate the situation.

You must feel sorry for Kieran. He is a good player for us and has kept himself in excellent shape. He performs incredibly well. 

“It’s unfortunate, but someone else needs to take over and perform well.”

“He’s hugely key to how we play,” BBC Sport was informed by David Moyes.

With this draw, Scotland has maintained its chances of qualifying for the round of sixteen in Euro 2024. 

When Scott McTominay’s goal in the 13th minute bounced off Fabian Schar and went past Yann Sommer, the royal blue supporters went into a frenzy. 

After 26 minutes, Xherdan Shaqiri produced a moment of brilliance to equalise, curling a stunning first-time effort into the top corner.

Both sides had their chances and Switzerland had goals from Dan Ndoye and Breel Embolo ruled out in either half.

Scotland will have a strong chance of progressing if they beаt Hungary in their final group match. 

Anything less and it could be home in the group stages at the 12th time of asking.
