Paul George of the Los Angeles Clippers is an admirer of Bronny James’ style of play.
On his podcast on Wednesday, George talked about the 2024 NBA draft potential and stated, “What’s more impressive is just his basketball savviness” (58:15:00 mark). His basketball acumen. He is capable of everything. He hasn’t, in my opinion, proven that he is truly exceptional in many things. But I believe he is capable of greatness in many areas.”
Additionally, he likened James to Jrue Holiday and Derrick White, two recent Boston Celtics winners, calling them “glue guys who can do everything on the floor and help you win.”
Whichever team selects the youngster in the first round will do so based on potential over production, whether it is the Los Angeles Lakers with the No. 55 choice hoping to match James with his well-known father or another team.
After all, in his lone collegiate season at USC, James averaged just 4.8 points per game while primarily playing as a substitute. In addition, he only shot 26.7 percent from deep and 36.6 percent from the field. It should be mentioned, though, that he had a cardiac arrest and didn’t play for more than a month after his season opener.
In his most recent mock draft, Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report projected James as the No. 55 overall choice and highlighted his excellent outside shooting performance at the NBA Scouting Combine.
Perhaps he can reach his full potential playing with his father, one of the greatest players in league history, if he can bring some of that “basketball savviness” and shooting to the Lakers.
