On Friday, June 14, Germany began their Euro 2024 campaign against Scotland.
Just before halftime, Ilkay Gundogan was brutally tackled by Ryan Porteous, who came in hard with both legs.
The experienced midfielder appeared to be facing the end of his career.
However, after some medical treatment, Gundogan miraculously returned to the game.
Porteous was correctly sent out with a red card, leaving Scotland without a player for the whole second half and awarding the Bundesteam a penalties, which Kai Havertz later converted.
After the game, addressing to the press, the Barcelona midfielder calmed everyone down, saying
“I am alright; my ligament was unaffected. “Besides, I’ve had worse.”
