According to Dutch outlet Het Belang van Limburg, Arsenal has approached PSV striker Johan Bakayoko about a potential summer transfer.
The Belgium international has been linked with a summer move to Liverpool, and Arsenal and Bayern Munich are apparently also interested in signing him.
Bakayoko, who Liverpool manager Arne Slot knows well from his time in the Eredivisie, could join the Premier League for about £43 million in the next transfer window.
Bakayoko, who made his senior debut for PSV in February 2022, has impressed for the Dutch club this season, scoring 14 goals and assisting 14 times in 48 games.
The promising winger, who was praised by Belgium colleague Romelu Lukaku for his ‘top-tier’ potential, is set for a busy summer.
Bakayoko’s big-money move fell through last summer, when he turned down offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Brentford, and Burnley.
Arsenal Makes Approach to Sign Dutch Winger
According to sources in his home nation, Arsenal has made an approach to sign Bakayoko, while Liverpool is also interested. Speaking to Dutch media, Bakayoko stated that last summer, former Burnley manager and former Belgium international Vincent Kompany attempted to lure him to Turf Moor.
The 38-year-old assumed leadership of Bayern Munich this week and is expected to try his luck again in the pursuit of Bakayoko’s signature.
When asked about his future by a Dutch media, the 21-year-old, who has been dubbed a ‘elite talent’ by Fabrizio Romano, claimed he ‘will be on a football ground someplace’ next year and declined to speak further on his transfer position.
Bakayoko, a left-footed attacker, plays from the right and is a modern winger who likes to cut inside and shoot with his preferred foot.
While Arsenal’s transfer priority is at centre-forward, Bakayoko’s arrival would provide the Gunners with another weapon on the flank after Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard have performed admirably this season.
