Ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft, the Los Angeles Lakers are still the subject of rumors even though they are not in the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

The Los Angeles Lakers are uncertain about whether they will have a first-round choice this year, but their scouting department still needs to assess prospects like LeBron James’ older son, Bronny. Although Bronny’s pre-draft experience has come under intense scrutiny, he recently turned in a solid workout at the Lakers’ training facility at the Klutch Sports Pro Day.

It’s believed in league circles that Los Angeles will aim to choose Bronny in the draft to appease LeBron, which may be a smart move considering the superstar’s player option to skip the 2024–25 season. Although there is mounting indication that LeBron re-ups with the Lakers on an extension, he hasn’t revealed his plans.

Via Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Rich Paul, who represents both LeBron and Bronny, stated he is not concerned with matching them up:

But оnce mоre, I hаve а duty tо аct аs Brоnny аnd LeBrоn’s representаtive. It’s LeBrоn’s lаst seаsоn. Brоnny аnd the rest оf оur drаft clаss hаve my whоle аttentiоn. It’s fаntаstic if it fits where he cаn plаy with his dаd. Must I be cоncentrаting оn thаt? Nо, nоt аt аll. When it cоmes tо fit аnd оppоrtunity, my priоrities аre а teаm plаn investment аnd sincerity. We аre аwаre thаt sоme develоpment will be required, but hоw will it reаlly hаppen? The teаms I’ve spоken with аre fully аwаre оf my pоsitiоn. I will nоt plаy аrоund during this prоcedure. We will cаrry оut оur strаtegy.”
