Bayern Munich are reportedly planning a move for England and Manchester City star Jack Grealish.
Burnley manager Vincent Kompany is expected to take over as Bayern Munich’s new coach, and he appears to have wasted no time in selecting summer transfer targets.
The Sun reports that Kompany is a great fan of Grealish and wants to bring him to Germany.
The 28-year-old, who signed for City from Aston Villa for £100 million in 2021, would join England teammate Harry Kane in Bayern’s attacking line.
Grealish has just won his third Premier League title at the Etihad Stadium and could win the FA Cup on Saturday, but he has dropped down Pep Guardiola’s priority list.
Grealish has only started 10 of the 29 Premier League games he has been available for this season, with Guardiola relying more on him in the Champions League.
Grealish has only scored three goals and provided three assists in a disappointing season.
This has impacted Grealish’s hopes of starting for England at Euro 2024, which will be hosted in Germany this summer.
According to the Sun, Guardiola and City are likely to fight any proposal from Bayern for Grealish, who has three years remaining on his six-year contract signed in 2021.
The winger is also a popular character in the City dressing room, and he was the focal point of the club’s record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title celebrations last weekend.
Bayern could hypothetically line up with Grealish on the left wing and another former City player, Leroy Sane, on the right, either side of superstar Kane, who has 44 goals this season.
Kompany appears to be the surprise successor to Thomas Tuchel at the Allianz Arena, as Bayern try to reclaim their Bundesliga title.
Despite Burnley’s relegation from the Premier League, the 38-year-old Belgian coach has remained in demand, despite winning only five games all season.
Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick, and Julian Nagelsmann are among the candidates who rejected down Bayern’s new manager hunt.
They even tried to persuade Tuchel to stay after he announced his departure three months ago, but he refused to reconsider.
Bayern met with Burnley chairman Alan Pace earlier this week to discuss a compensation package for Kompany.
