Irving responded to Edwards’ taunt following the game in a lighthearted conversation with the Inside The NBA panel.
He laughed and remarked, “I used it as motivation.” He was alluding to Edwards’ remarks. “I thought it was just a nod of respect when I saw it while I was sitting at home.” Furthermore, I was also aware of the kind of game that would be played in both Game 1 and the remaining games in the series.
You’re correct, I was watching Game 7 at home with my family when Ant announced, “I got Kyrie.” We adore Ant because of his fearless attitude, but that’s another reason. I was therefore aware that he would put some pressure on me when I came out tonight.
Irving treated Edwards with respect during his press conference following the game.
“I love that as a peer, man,” he remarked. Nothing is better about it. I’m sure Ant watched me when he was younger, and I watched him when he was in high school. I adore Ant because of his fearlessness.
When Irving and Edwards face off again in Game 2 on Friday, it will surely be an exciting encounter to witness.
