Goalkeeper Ederson is considering the possibility of leaving Man City Club this summer amid much interest from Saudi Arabian teams.
Just a few days after winning the 2023/24 Premier League title with Man City, Ederson was eager to leave. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said a number of Saudi Arabian clubs are interested in signing Man City’s No. 1 goalkeeper and are willing to pay an attractive fee.
As for Ederson, he is also ready to consider all offers after 332 appearances for Man City. And Saturday’s upcoming FA Cup final against Man United could be his last in a blue Man’s shirt.
However, it remains to be seen whether Ederson will feature in this match or not. He missed the match in round 38 of the Premier League last Sunday due to injury. This goalkeeper suffered a fracture in his eye socket in the 2-0 win against Tottenham earlier this month.
After being substituted in the match against Tottenham, Ederson reacted violently by kicking a water bottle in front of coach Guardiola. During the match against West Ham in the final round, Ederson sat in the stands wearing a T-shirt with his face on the front.
This season, Ederson has been absent many times due to injury and Stefan Ortega has played very well when replacing him. Coach Guardiola recently declared Ortega “one of the best goalkeepers in one-on-one situations”.
Ederson joined Man City in 2017 from Benfica for £35 million and was an instant success. He quickly became the number 1 choice in goal and won countless titles with the team. In addition to 6 Premier League titles, Ederson also won 4 League Cups, 2 FA Cups and 1 Champions League.
Although he is a key figure for Man City, he is still only the second choice in the Brazilian national team after Liverpool’s Alisson. Ederson only has 25 caps for the national team compared to Alisson’s 63 appearances.
In the Saudi Arabian National Championship, there are currently some top goalkeepers, including former Chelsea star Edouard Mendy and former Sevilla player Yassine Bounou.
