The training squad for Euro 2024 has been picked by GARETH SOUTHGATE, and some well-known players are not there.
OUT of the list are Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, and Jordan Henderson.
Southgate remarked, “As far as I know, he isn’t avaliable for us,” when discussing the Ben White situation at his press conference.
Before leaving to Germany, the England manager has chosen 33 players for the next international friendly.
To leave just 26 players who will represent the Three Lions at Euro 2024, Southgate will have to trim the team roster by SEVEN.
Ben White, a right-back for Arsenal, has not been named to the England squad for the European Championships this summer. Gareth Southgate has explained why.
Since being sent home early from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, White has not appeared on the field for England.
The star right back for Arsenal has proven to be among the finest in the Premier League and is definitely worthy of a spot in the England team.
However, this was never likely given that the 26-year-old chose not to play for England during the March international break.
“We have the door open for us.”
Southgate stated at the time that White’s “door is open” to someday return to the international scene.
Southgate admits there have been no talks with Ben White after the Arsenal star withdrew from the World Cup squad last winter.
The England boss says: “No, as far as I’m aware, he’s not available to us.”
Southgate stated, “The door is open for us, as I’ve said to you.”
It’s obvious that this will be challenging leading up to the Euros since there are players who have competed all the way through, but we have no idea who will be available in that part of the field.
“I appreciated the circumstances, as Arsenal has reached out to us.” Ultimately, I am aware of our talk from March of last year.
“I thought I ought to take a step back from it. However, I’ve never closed the door. For the friendlies against Belgium and Brazil, I was excited to bring in this camp.
