Repоrts tying Arsenal gоalkeeper Aarоn Ramsdale tо a summer transfer tо Newcastle seem tо have been dispelled. This seasоn, the England internatiоnal has been cоmpelled tо watch frоm the sidelines as David Raya has taken his place as the Gunners’ premier player.
The Spaniard has impressed between the posts, earned the Premier League Golden Glove award, and is predicted to make his loan move permanent this summer after surviving the media tempest that surrounded his arrival. Ramsdale, who has played just six games in all competitions, has been linked to a transfer away in recent months, and on Friday, claims surfaced that he was about to sign a contract to join Eddie Howe’s team the next season.
The 26-year-old did, however, seem to dispute those assertions, claiming on social media that he is not aware of any agreement being made.
‘News to me,’ he posted to X, the old Twitter. Laughing emoji was how he ended his post. James Green of Sky Sports had said that he had personally heard from Ramsdale’s representatives that a planned move to St James’ Park had been agreed. “That came directly from talking with someone I know well who knows his agent, and he said it was completed.” He informed the squad at Highbury. It is occurring, the agreement.
Two years are still on his contract with the Gunners, who signed the former Sheffield United stopper in 2021.
Currently leading Newcastle is Martin Dubravka, with Nick Pope expected to return from a dislocated shoulder at the end of April. Pope turned 32 last month, but Dubravka is 35 years old, and Newcastle is looking for a younger candidate as they finalize their hiring process.
Ramsdale is greatly admired by Magpies manager Howe, who brought him to Bournemouth from Sheffield United. He also provided the goalie with another opportunity after he slept in and missed the bus for a Carabao Cup match against Chelsea.
Ramsdale praised Howe for handling the matter and called it ‘a penny dropping moment’ in his career, even if he was punished and sent on loan to AFC Wimbledon.
Gunners are divided about Arteta’s treatment of Ramsdale, and Jens Lehmann, a member of Arsene Wenger’s illustrious Invincibles team, has “never understood” why the Englishman fell so quickly down the pecking order.
“I never ever understood the Ramsdale decision,” the former Germany and Arsenal goalie told Mail Sport last month.
